LA in 2 Days
Too quick but very efficient
A week ago I did an escapade to LA for two days and it was absolutely nourishing for my soul in every way and inspiring. I truly can’t wait to bring Laroot World to LA and have an excuse to spend more time in this incredible city.
Flavor:
How many meals can one have in 36 hours you ask? Well you would be surprised.
Upon arriving my sister and I went straight to the Getty Museum where we had a little bit of a mezze snack. Nothing like hummus and fresh California grown vegetables to nurture the soul after a 6 hour East to West flight.
In the evening we of course went for an omakase at Sushi Park, recommended by one and all, as must stop in LA. It did not disappoint. After Sushi Park we went for dessert at Chateau Marmont where tiramisu and passion fruit cheesecake was the exact flavors one needed after a salty sushi dinner.
The following day, after a quick breakfast in our hotel in Waldorf Astoria (steel cut oats is my anti-inflammatory and Ayurveda friendly breakfast of choice when I travel) we went on with a very busy day, where a sit down lunch wasn’t really a possibility. Luckily there was an Erewhon in the LACMA Museum, and we were able to have a perfect lunch salad and their famous cookies. So LA. (But I was a little upset about the plastic packaging for the salad ngl)
Dinner happened at the new beautiful Baldi in our hotel where the steak and the corn tortellini stole the food show. Absolutely worth a pit stop. Also Al Pacino was dining at the table next to us.
Didn’t have time for more foodie experiences but see the appendix for my LA list from past two trips to the city of dreams!
Discovery:
When we got to LA the first stop was the Getty Museum which is an architectural marvel by Richard Meyer, with priceless old master paintings inside. That’s how I would summarize it. A must visit. And if you are lucky, you may get to run into a loving couple of a fancy gentleman and his robot wife (she had a ring, they were married, she could talk and was in full conversation with her hubby powered by some AI, absolutely not creepy at all. ✔️)
The second day we did it all.
With my sister we visited David Kordansky and Jeffery Deitch galleries. In Kordansky I fell in love with Hilary Pecis work.
A little shopping did not hurt us either.
There were some incredible vintage finds in Timeless Vixen (the owner Lauren is a gem).
A stop at Just One Eye for understanding what style looks like in Los Angeles these days.
Another stop in RetroSpecs for some vintage sunglasses.
And finally the treasure of the entire visit:
The new LACMA, most importantly the David Geffen galleries which are marvels that blew my mind. It’s a new way to perceive art and archive the civilizations that make the world what it is today. I can’t wait to be back there.
Wellness:
In Just One Eye I also found a balm that was a life saver with the dry air and quite a bit of plane travel in 48 hours. I tried the sampler at the counter and haven’t let go of it since.
While traveling I was relying on anti-inflammatory Manuka Honey Packets from Mahoni which took me through jet lag late nights early mornings and everything in between seamlessly!
