First of all Happy Lunar New Year! Let the year of the snake be filled with wisdom, strength, and Laroot for you!
How about this concept? Going forward, unless we have something extra special to report, we will concentrate this journal on flavor, discovery, and wellness moments of the past week. These happen to be pillars of our business, but our business is our life…so you understand where this is going. :)
This week these are just from Natasha, but next week look out for Makai’s notes!
So for the week of Jan 21…
Flavor:
Last Wednesday, I was very lucky to be part of my friend Nina’s bday celebrations in King restaurant. Every time this place is a treat and this time, I decided to be larootfully inventive and ordered the steamed cabbage with farro for main course. I don’t know what they did to that cabbage but it was one of the best things I’ve ever tried, and I would love to find an appropriate interpretation of it for Laroot!

Discovery:
This week specifically? I had a tour of the MET scientific department with the scientist in charge himself, the amazing Marco Leona. No biggie.
Saw some things I couldn’t possibly tell you about or show you pictures of, but, one story I got his consent on sharing, is that of mummies who have their CAT scans taken at Weill Cornell, no less.
The professor went on to share that when a fellow newcomer mummy left the museum for her CAT scan appointment in NYC’s fanciest hospital, it was found that plenty of bones were broken in the body inside the carcass. Technicians were confused and appalled at such remarkable injuries. As they were debating the case another fellow technician walked in and, unaware of who the VIP patient was, said, ‘ah, must have been a bad car accident heh? They always look like that after those’.
Make that a chariot accident.
Wellness:
Well it’s been cold. And I guess this is a good moment to share a remedy that gets me through the colder months when the immune system needs just a little bit more. The Honitus Hot Sip is a magic Ayurvedic potion. I can’t wait to create our own organic version of it (and am going to India soon to workshop this with Dr. Avilochan!) . Until then, India’s favorite wellness hack is available on Amazon and I highly recommend it for your sipping on a cold winter’s night.
To honor Lunar New Year, I also wanted to share my favorite sore muscle/frayed tendon remedy. I picked this one up in a random holistic shop once and since then, I don’t travel without it. Since I ski, surf, and carry children, this is a great weapon for me for when things get tight and there is no massage in sight.
Be well, curious, and happy.
